Background: Selek was a Vulcan born child prodigy whose parents while killed while he was yet young. Refusing a scholarship to the Vulcan Science Academy, he joined The Federation.

Personality profile:
He keeps a close check on all of his emotions, which he finds hard to control, especially with deference to Romulans. For this reason, he was posted to the USS LaGrange, a vessel operating along part of the Romulan Neutral Zone. He tries to mind his own business and so finds humans annoying for their need to know all. An exceptional officer, the man's social life is comparable to null space. he has few friends, and is still learning about humans and making friends, though he will never admit to being fond of them. He retains the Vulcan habit of raising an eyebrow at interesting information.

Special notes:
Let the record stand that Selek was once reprimanded for losing his temper at The Academy when a fellow student insulted his family. Selek once applied for transfer off of the USS LaGrange. His request was denied.
