"You're dead." Jeph said as he sat straight up. He looked around, there was no one even remotely near him. He was in a cell, he could tell that.
"Hello!?" he screamed. The walls glowed with a yellow light. The light transformed into tendrils, and the tendrils reached out to him. Jeph lurched back against the wall, and discovered he as chained down. As the tendrils moved closer they became brighter. With a sudden movement they struck out, and passed thru him. They left a gaping hole where his stomache should have been. Blood gushed from the wound. Jeph fell to the ground and waited for death to consume him.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" he cried. Jeph stopped screaming and opened his eyes. He looked up. He was in sickbay. He looked down at his chest, there was no hole.
"Bad dream?"
He turned around. The sickbay was empty. "Computer." he said. No response. "Who said that?"
"I did." came the voice again. It sounded vaugely familiar.
"Where are you? Who are you? Or should I say What are you?"
"Fairchild." the voice said, "Do you forget so easily? What DO you DO with that 90%?"
He looked around, "Show yourself!" He watched as the end of his bed rippled, there stood Doctor Affity holding her Q medallion.
"Celeste? How did you? When did you? I don't understand."
"There there silly betazoid," she said as she walked around to the front of the table, "I got Gen's message, I beamed back aboard and used my medalion so that I could not be noticed."
"But I-"
"Shh. Let me finish the explanation. I avoided the creatures, and eventually made my way to the bridge. When I got there I found Commander Ocett, you & Gen all unconcious, and barely alive. I used the medalion to seal off sickbay, and then to bring you all here. Ocett came around first, and he & I, - with our powers - fought the creatures off the ship."
"Did you discover what they were?"
Affity ignored his question and continued "Anyway, I'd really not like to go into detail because time is short, and we have much to do, if we intend on defeating them. We were worried about you for a while, thought that you might not make it."
"Then we haven't beaten the aliens?" The ship rocked, from an explosion.
"As you can see, we have yet to finish them off. Jeph, I am needed
on the bridge, I must go," she explained, already halfway out of the door.
